Here we will talk about the Restoration of the 5000 Névé White
Model: 5000 Névé White
History:
It was at the two-wheeler show in October 1971 that the 5000 was presented to the general public.
With a more "youthful" look, modern colors, and white-wall tires, the 5000 aimed to attract a new and younger clientele to Solex.
It was a great success, even though the brand became, over the years, an increasingly outdated and unfashionable vehicle.
This 5000 Névé white dates from after July 1973 because it has both attached kickstand feet and a white "duckbill" mudguard, adopted from the 3800.

Work to be done:Like all 5000s, this moped was affected by "leprosy." Indeed, the powder coating (or hot epoxy) of the time was done on poorly stripped sheets. As a result, rust slowly continued its work under the paint layer, and at the slightest impact or scratch, the paint would peel off in strips. The owner of this 5000 Névé white therefore wanted a complete restoration of the frame part to find a Solex in "factory-fresh" condition.
Removal of the “engine” part,
Complete disassembly of the cycle part: frame, handlebars, wheels, etc.,
Bodywork treatment and painting,
Zinc plating of the screws,
Micro-blasting and polishing of aluminum parts,
Polishing of chrome,
Cleaning of stainless steel parts,
Replacement of all consumables (cables, sheaths, tires, etc.),
Disassembly of the engine's “bodywork” parts: air filter, engine support plates,
Replacement of plastics: engine cover, fuel tank, and magneto cover. Chronology:
Complete engine disassembly,
Frame disassembly: chemical stripping, sandblasting, then oven-baked epoxy paint in "Névé white" color, as original,
Polishing of chrome, aluminum, and stainless steel,
Frame reassembly with new zinc-plated period screws,
Reassembly and adjustment of the cycle part, especially the cabling and tires,
Engine reassembly.
The slideshow shows the final result.
When riding, the 5000 Névé white is a bit unique.
With its small wheels, its handling is much more "nervous" than on a classic model. As a result, in the first few meters, you feel more unstable and less secure.
However, quite quickly, you find yourself playing with this moped because it rides like a mini bike and its agility is remarkable.
Finally, with its "modern" colors: Névé White, Orange, Atoll Blue, or Palma Yellow, it clearly breaks away from the classic black.
