Rénovation moteur Solex 3800

A new Solex 3800 engine is set to hit the road in a few days.

It arrived quite "worn out" and an initial disassembly had left some nasty marks.

Indeed, poorly reassembled, the connecting rod twisted and this caused some damage to the top end of the engine, which had to be completely replaced.

Operations performed:

  1. Complete engine disassembly,

  2. Cleaning and washing,

  3. Bead blasting of all parts and polishing of parts,

  1. Replacement of bearings and various seals,

  1. Refurbishment of the fuel pump,

  1. Clutch refurbishment,

  2. Exhaust valve refurbishment,

  3. Carburetor refurbishment,

  4. Ignition refurbishment,

  5. Reassembly of a 39.5 high engine with 3 transfers. Before assembly, this cylinder was lightly microfilmed and then repainted in high-temperature "gloss black" paint for an original look,

  6. Air filter improvement with re-drilling of the intake chimneys,

  7. For the "visual" aspect and quality of work, all the screws were entirely re-zinc plated,

  8. Similarly, the duckbill and engine support plates were replaced.

The slideshow below will give you an idea of the work done before/after, all accompanied by a short video of the engine's first "cries".

Enjoy!
