Rénovation d’un moteur de 5000

A 5000 engine is expected to hit the road again in a few days.

This 5000 engine arrived quite "worn out"... oxidized and probably seized for a long time, even if the penetrating oil had managed to unblock everything.

Operations performed on this 5000 engine:

  1. Complete disassembly of the engine,

  2. Cleaning and washing,

  3. Glass bead blasting of all parts and polishing of parts,

  4. Replacement of bearings and various seals,

  5. Refurbishment of the fuel pump (leak at the bottom of the pump, the varnish starting to blister),

  1. Clutch refurbishment (pads completely worn: see slideshow),

  2. Replacement of the burnt exhaust valve,

  3. Carburetor refurbishment with 11-pipe and "hoc" jet,

  4. Ignition refurbishment: cleaning of the plate, contacts, installation of an electronic capacitor and adjustment of everything with a bermascope,

  5. Reassembly of a 39.5 high engine with 3 transfers. Before assembly, this cylinder was lightly glass blasted then repainted in "gloss black" high-temperature paint for an original look,

  6. Air filter improvement by re-drilling the intake chimneys, in accordance with the modifications made to the pipe and carburetor,

  7. For the "visual" aspect and the quality of the work, all the screws were entirely re-zinc plated.

The slideshow below will give you an idea of the work done before/after, all enhanced with a short video of the engine's first "cries".

Enjoy!

News!

What we love at L'Atelier is getting news about the work we've done and following the progress of your restorations!

This engine has rejoined its owner who was able to reassemble it on the frame he restored himself, and he was kind enough to send us some photos of his work:

A beautiful result when you discover the initial state of this machine:

As for the engine, "it runs like a clock" and we are delighted that a new Solex can hit the road again!

We note the care taken in the finish of the machine: re-zinc plated screws and not simply brushed or, worse, repainted, respect for the original Palma yellow 5000 color, and elements repainted "as original" such as the saddle, kickstand, and its support painted black as it should be.

In any case, congratulations to Cyrille for the beautiful restoration of his Palma Yellow Solex 5000.

We wish him many beautiful rides and... under more clement skies because snow is not ideal with a Solex!!
