Workshop tip: Clean your fuel filters regularly. Both the carburetor and the tank filter. Your fuel supply will be cleaner and your engine will have fewer jerks. To do this, use brake cleaner spray and an air gun.

To remove the tank filter, after unscrewing your hose, take a small wood screw. Screw it into the fuel outlet hole a few turns then pull; the filter will come out with the screw.
