it's finished!
After several weeks of effort, this red 3800 luxury is finally in working order.
As expected, it is for sale.
Here is a summary of what has been done on this machine as well as a slideshow of photos.
Model: Solex 3800
History: This Solex 3800 is a red luxury model, beautiful red paint, stainless steel mudguards and white sidewall tires.
Options: a "choc" headlight, not present in the photos but which will be installed for the sale.
What has been done on this Solex 3800:
The entirety of this Solex has been restored down to the smallest detail.
Chassis
The paint has been entirely redone by powder coating, as it was originally, after being stripped and sandblasted, piece by piece.
The chrome parts are new or re-chromed,
all of the screws have been re-zinc plated to new,
The spokes and tires are new,
The plastic parts are new,
the fuel tank and the magneto cover are new,
The decals have been reapplied identically,
The accessories (tools, pump, bell) are present and functional,
The front brake pads and rear brake linings are also new,
finally, the sheaths and cables have been replaced with new ones.
Engine side
The engine was treated according to preparation 3:
Disassembly, cleaning and micro-blasting of all engine parts,
Change of bearings (engine and clutch), seals and oil seal on the engine side,
Replacement of all screws with original zinc-plated new screws,
Installation of new 41mm cylinder/piston with 3 transfers, the cylinder has been painted with high-temperature glossy black paint to preserve the original look of the engine,
Clutch overhaul,
Fuel pump overhaul,
Cleaning of fuel hoses,
Carburetor overhaul and cleaning,
Replacement of the fuel return hose on the tank,
Ignition overhaul and adjustment, installation of an electronic capacitor,
Replacement of the spark plug wire and spark plug,
Installation of a new air filter and reaming of the filter chimneys to match the new cylinder,
Replacement of the engine support rod silent blocks,
Replacement of the decompression rod,
the exhaust pipe is new.
When driving, The engine preparation makes it much more responsive and torquey. It is being broken in, has good power (a small rocket according to my test rider 🙂 and brakes very well.
