Refaire un bas moteur de 3800, un nouveau tuto de l'Atelier de la Vigne

Overhauling a crankcase is often a delicate operation, and few embark on this process.

It's true that without clear explanations and, more importantly, without adequate tools, we often end up doing more harm than good to our poor engine!

In a previous video, we got a moped out of a barn running again, but it was clear that its operation was not optimal.

The most "serious" issue was a lateral play in the crankshaft, play that can only worsen over time, progressively reduce engine power due to air leaks, but above all, eventually wear out the crankshaft bearing housing and render the engine casing unusable!

In such cases, one shouldn't hesitate, and a complete overhaul of the crankcase is imperative.

By the way, just between us, it's important to remember that our mopeds' engines are at least 30 or 40 years old, and it's obvious that at that age, the seals and other oil seals are completely worn out... so if you want to ride confidently with an old moped, whatever it may be, you absolutely must "refurbish" the engine, whether you like it or not.

For the handier ones, this new video will, I think, be a good tutorial to approach this operation step by step.

Don't forget, however, before you start, that a minimum of specific tools is necessary. Here we are dealing with a 3800 engine with its specific tools, but it's exactly the same if you're tackling another moped!

Tutorials, explanations, and having "mechanical skills" are not always enough; good tools are also essential.

And for others, less "skilled" or not wishing to invest in tools for one or two engines, know that the Workshop is also there to restore your engines; or even improve them a bit 🙃😉

In any case, I wish you a good video!

Don't hesitate to subscribe to the Workshop's channel! It's free, full of tips and tutorials, and 100% dedicated to restoring our old mopeds 🤙
