We also like to see old cars pass through our shop, and this week, a 1975 Deux Chevaux came to visit the Workshop.
Sluggish and sputtering, this 2CV4 was not in its best shape, and we worked hard to give it a new lease of life!
A quick check of the ignition revealed a real mess: defective condenser, bent weights, worn-out breaker points, all bathed in oil due to a faulty crankshaft oil seal...
The installation of an electronic ignition system, a new oil seal, and a pair of new spark plugs made starting and running ideal.
However, we felt that the "power" of the 435 Cm3 engine was still not there, despite a final valve adjustment.
An examination of the carburetor was enlightening... enormous carbon deposit, fuel strainer full of dirt, sludge at the bottom of the bowl...
Purchase of a carburetor repair kit, complete disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, soda blasting of the carburetor body, precise reassembly, and now a new carburetor that will serve for a long time to come!

A final cleaning of the air filter, and our old lady is spry as a young girl again!

She will be back in a few weeks for an interior makeover with seat and trim renovation, we can't wait!
