Today, we received several parts back from stripping.

At the workshop, "chemical" stripping is the first step in restoring our mopeds.

This process removes all old paint, even in the smallest nooks and crannies.

This step mainly helps preserve the metal sheets, as overly aggressive sandblasting could deform or even pierce the thinnest sheets of our mopeds.

After stripping, any remaining rust spots will be removed by sandblasting.

Finally, shot blasting will give the steel a slightly satin finish, also allowing for better paint adhesion.

After stripping, we often see a lot of issues with these parts, heavily attacked by rust, and sometimes we are surprised by the result and the quality of the old manufacturing.

This is the case today with the beam frame of this Motobécane AV 88, which came out almost as good as new!
